Design started at a very young age for Jim. Drawing different designs in his Trapper Keeper to make it look a little more custom was essential at the start of every school year growing up. Jim found himself filling up many a notebook with various cars, dragons, muscle-bound creatures and skateboard logos. *You can see select childhood works throughout the site. After High School, while still hanging on to his dreams of becoming a pro snowboarder, Jim started college and ended up in Drawing 1 his first semester. He took to it quickly, his professor even asked to keep some drawings from class and that’s when the epiphany happened, “How can I make a living doing this?”. Next stop, Art school.
Previous to earning a bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design from the Art Institute in Denver, Jim majored and graduated in Commercial Art. While in school, Jim worked at Schwinn Cycling and Fitness in Boulder, CO as a design intern. While interning at Schwinn, Jim quickly learned the importance of branding, deadlines, and juggling multiple projects with a variety of stakeholders. In 2000, Jim signed on at Creative Instinct in Denver and for seven years worked with clients including Konica Minolta, Coca-Cola, Orange County Choppers, NASCAR, Mattel, Jim Beam, The Criterion Collection and Elvis Presley Enterprises. While at Creative Instinct, Jim was able to push the limits of design in all mediums and produced some award winning work in the process.
Seeing the world evolving online, Jim moved on to one of Denver’s top ranked Web agencies, Webolutions, Inc., to continue to take his skills to the next level. He was hired as a web designer in 2007 and quickly climbed the ranks at the new agency, proving himself as a top level creative, a leader, and an asset to the company. Jim now works as the Creative Director at Webolutions, heading up the creative department, sitting on the executive leadership team and very much enjoys designing for constantly evolving technology and devices.
When Jim is not glued to his computer, he enjoys spending time with his wife and son, racing his Time Attack car, snowboarding, golf, hockey and wrestling with his dogs and cat.
